Hitchin Blades Has been running or should we fencing for over 10 years now.

We draw fencers from Hitchin, Letchworth, Stevenage and surrounding towns and villages.

We at Hitchin Blades have to obtained the services of a professional coach. Dave Moxley founder of the very successful Salle JEUDI group of Fencing Clubs. Being only a small club being allied to the Group enables us to have access to not only the senior instructor but also basic and advanced equipment used to teach the art of fencing. We offer currently a 6 week introductory set of classes for beginners together with a 6 week refresher or advanced course for established fencers.

As with all clubs to keep the momentum going it requires new blood. Though it must be said we have no intention of spilling anyone's. That would not be a good day out..

The unbounded enthusiasm of the instructor developing the beginners is the secret of the clubs success, however the intermediate and advanced pupils have also gained immensely from his wide range of teaching and coaching skills built up from over 20 years competing at both national and international level together with over 25 years as an instructor.

The Club specialises in Foil and Epee. That is not to say Sabre has been abandoned.

It has not it's just that as one member put it

‘We have enough to do keeping up with “Him” on Foil and Epee.’

The planned course of 6 weekly lessons will in no time have you challenging the more advanced fencers as both your fitness and fencing technique improve in leaps and bounds

Hitchin Blades Will tell you all you need to know before embarking on your voyage of discovery. When you learn to fence you are learning a sport that is fast and furious. You will find your overall fitness will in time improve, your reaction times will improve.

Modern fencing is a sport developed from Duelling.

So if you want it fast and furious You get 1½ hours of Fascinating fast action

or if you wish. A leisurely browse through the Fun side of Fencing.

Whether you are a beginner or returning to fencing remember the advice of our instructor take it slowly at first build up the skills and techniques first. ‘As he say’s “They don’t give you a F1 racing car to learn to drive!” so there you have it come and join us.’

Hitchin Blades were asked to put on two fencing displays for the Rhythms of the World Weekend held last year. In fact we did four displays and introductory sessions over the two days. We were back again in 2009 for a full weekend with displays and intro’s on Saturday and Sunday, we have been asked back for 2010

As you will see we take students from 7 to well we didn’t have any 70 year olds but we did have some over 50.
